I know as readers we all like people or dislike people for a reason, but I just don't get the love of the Darkling or why they would want Alina. I just don't see anything lovable about him, or why Alina should want to be with him. I know I might be the oddball but I love Mal and I love the relationship they have between one another.

The Darkling just wants the power, and he treated Alina like a slave, and trying to kill Mal to keep her inline, that is not love. And I started book 2, and he was still treating her like crap and threatening to do what he said he was going to do to her, if Mal didn't do what he wanted, boy I really don't get it at all?
